Chest tattoo's are just like tattoos on any other part of your body they are only as original as the meaning the person who gets it puts behind it. Yes chest tattoos are the latest trendy spot to get inked & ultimately there will be some people who get something tattooed on them they will regret later. Let's not forget about the dreaded lower back tattoo thankfully, chest pieces aren't normally an assault on the eyes. To me at the end of the day if your going to get a tattoo anywhere you had better believe in it whole heartily where you put it is just a second thought. Lastly great job on a thought provoking post.

You can't even say anything about any of Travis's tattoos. They all having meaning behind them and look sick.

As someone who has tattoos, i think they need to be done right, no matter where you put them, and they should all have a meaning, not just having it put on you. i'd never get a band name though, what happens if you stop liking them? Also, i kind of prefer ones that have artwork around them instead of words just plastered on their chest, and of course, they have to have a great chest/body to make it look better.

To be honest I would tattoo "love is my weapon" on my chest.
Though it means something to chris, it means something to me too. So why not do it?
What you do to your own body you have say. It doesn't matter what other people think of, it's about how you think about yourself. If you want to and it means something to you, do it. No one is judging you harder than yourself when you walk in public. At some point you're going to have to stop caring about what other people think because we aren't here to please other people.

Tattoos period! are "trendy" due to the fact that mainstream media has commercialized the art in every which way, implementing or encouraging any talent-less person to pick a machine not a tattoo gun&scribble on someone to make a quick dollar. Though the chest tattoo in particular has been around, but not until lately has been fashioned as "the go to spot" for your first tattoo because it's not a pleasant feeling to be tattooed, so I imagine that ppl get this place started on their body because it shows that they can take pain&/or to look cool&feel like their actually tattooed all over wearing their v-neck that only shows the one&only tattoo they actually have. I got mine done in 2007 when I was apprenticing under an established tattoo artist, Johnny Casino. But I don't care anymore, let them jump in line for next fad or tattoo style, maybe tribal will come back&all these lames can black out their bodies for good. I personally think you should work you way out¬ start on you hands or neck, it looks desperate at times, people need to not rush into permanent investments*

Its original to a point. When people start copying others artwork or sayings is when it becomes unoriginal. If anyone gets a chest piece make sure it says or portrays something that is meaningful to you, not some bull shit. But I guess thats the rule with all tattoos. If youre gonna permanently ink something on your body, dont put something stupid, unoriginal, or trendy (like dream catchers, anchors, an octopus, cupcakes, diamonds) on you. Do something different that expresses who you are.
